I'm glad we sprung for the thicker mattress. The bed is comfortable and a good length (I'm 6'2"). The frame feels solid, not like a typical folding bed. I've had difficulty with opening and closing folding beds in the past, but this one has a clever design that locks it in place when not in use, but opens with just a slight pull upwards. We got this for guests when they stay in our spare room. The headboard is solid and nice for reading in bed and keeping the pillow from sliding off at night, and during the day it funcitons as a table rather than simply taking up space..
