The metal day bed frame and trundle are designed for a space-saving mind, where it can even be used as a sofa during the day, and then simply pull out the guest trundle to create a bed.
A really gorgeous piece, and mostly easy to build. I built it by myself in about 60-80 minutes, and had no trouble until needing to screw on the nuts provided. At first use, they go on to a certain point then stop - leaving the screw itself rattling around in the holes. What you need to do - and what took me longest/likely wouldn't have been sped up much even with another person there - is hold the screw down hard as you can with the hex key, and tighten the nut at the same time with the small spanner provided. Definitely fiddly, and doesn't immediately occur to you - but I'm glad I realised and didn't have to worry about a return! I'm very handy and love a challenge, but to someone who's not used to tasks like this, it might be a bit aggravating.
I think, when finished, the set itself is really neat. I bought some very plush mattresses alongside, and could sink into this thing for hours with my laptop. I recommend going for 20cm mattresses, as mine are 25cm and need a bit of jostling to pull out, but hardly a big deal for me. Comes with a LOT of packaging materials though: it took me longer to cut up and safely dispose of all the cardboard and polystyrene than to build the whole bed!
I'll say the trundle is a tad lower than the main daybed, by about 1-2cm, so be wary of that when using them together. The trundle also shifts around if you move when using the full bed together, so I'd recommend some straps or other means of fastening the trundle + bed, and a kingsize sheet to keep both mattresses contained too. A bit of faff here and there on this thing, but overall fits the space in the way I needed, and for a pretty decent price.. Anonymous. Wed Feb 05 2025
